Introduction to Intaglio
Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 pm - 9 pm
July 14 - August 13
Learn the basics or get a refresher on intaglio printing. Starting with dry-point, learn how to physically make incised marks and textures on a plate, that will hold ink for printing. After learning the fundamentals of inking, wiping, and printing an intaglio plate, you will learn various approaches to etching lines, tones, and textures into a copper plate. You will have the opportunity to experiment, rework your plate, and combine different techniques to create an editionable print.
Class enrollment includes weekend studio access to work on class projects during posted Open Hours.
Participants are responsible for providing copper plates, newsprint, and printing paper. Copper plates and select paper will be available for sale onsite. Other materials will be provided.
