This in-depth ten-session course offers a comprehensive exploration of traditional stone lithography. Delve into the rich history and unique techniques of this time-honored printmaking process. Students will learn to draw an image on limestone, master the delicate balance of water and ink, and experience the satisfaction of pulling a print. From image transfer to color lithography, this course covers all aspects of the craft, providing students with a solid foundation to develop their own artistic vision. Whether you're a seasoned printmaker or a curious beginner, this class offers a transformative journey into the world of stone lithography.
Class enrollment includes weekend studio access to work on class projects during posted Open Hours.

Wednesdays, 6 pm - 9 pm
January 28 - April 1
Learn the basics or get a refresher on intaglio printing. Starting with dry-point, learn how to physically make incised marks and textures on a plate that will hold ink for printing. After learning the fundamentals of inking, wiping, and printing an intaglio plate, you will learn various approaches to etching lines, tones, and textures into a copper plate using BIG etching ground. You will have the opportunity to experiment, rework your plate, and combine different techniques to create an editionable print.

Learn the basics of block printing in one evening! In this workshop, you will learn how to transfer your design, carve your block, and print your edition. It’s bold, graphic, and incredibly satisfying.
All materials will be provided and there is no experience necessary.

Come make and print Valentine’s Day cards! You will have the option to carve your own design or print from some blocks that are all ready to go. You will leave with beautiful cards that you printed yourself.

Gelli plate printing, using a silicone plate and acrylic paint, is a versatile and beginner-friendly printmaking technique that allows you to quickly create a variety of captivating textures and patterns. During this hands-on workshop, you’ll have time to play, experiment, and create dozens of prints for your collage stash.
We’ll cover numerous mark-making techniques using stencils, stamps, botanical materials, and everyday items to produce a collection of inspiring prints to fuel (or kickstart!) your collage practice.
No prior experience necessary. All materials provided.

We will be creating a short animation printed in 2 colors using a RISO MZ1090u. We’ll prep files for print, see how the RISO works, and scanning back to compile the frames. This workshop is open for all! If you have an animation or video and have been interested in seeing the result in RISO grandeur, come test with us! This workshop requires a laptop, we will be working with Photoshop, Aftereffects, and Spectrolite.

Discover the world of risograph printing in our hands-on workshop! We'll walk you through some of its history, how risograph machines work, how the inks layer, how to prepare files, and the printing process.
Each participant will create and customize their own risograph print or stationery. Feel free to brainstorm ideas beforehand and develop them in the studio, or bring in existing artwork to adapt for print!
By the end of the workshop you will go home with one of the following:
• 10 copies of an 11x17” 2-color print
• 20 copies of a 4x6” 2-color postcard
All supplies are included, though we strongly recommend bringing your laptop. Our current colors are blue, orange, fluo pink, and black.

Saturday, February 21 & Sunday, February 22
10 am - 4 pm
It’s cold, dark and grey, but when this workshop happens, Spring will be just a month away!
Join Annie Silverman to learn techniques for cutting, scraping and texturing these simple materials to create gardens of color for relief printmaking. Botanical sources and forms will be our inspirations to explore composition, repetition and patterning within our prints. There will be many visual sources for inspiration from actual plant material to vibrant examples of botanical illustration throughout the world.
Tetra Paks are the containers that soup and oat milk come in, and during Covid, printmakers discovered that the inside silvery lining could be used for many types of printmaking. Oil board is a product used to make stencils in the printing industry. (think MADE IN CHINA on cardboard boxes)
No experience necessary, just a willingness to get inky and try something new.

Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class will guide you through the entire silkscreen process. Explore various approaches to image-making, including hand-drawn and digital techniques. This class provides a supportive and hands-on learning environment where you can develop your own projects and explore the possibilities of silkscreen.

No printing press? No problem. Learn the basics of block printing on fabric to customize your clothes and bags. Using simple linocut techniques and water-based inks, we’ll design and carve unique stamps to print on textiles. We’ll cover tips and tricks for carving blocks, creating crisp prints, and heat-setting inks so your imagery lasts.
Blocks, carving tools, and inks provided during class, bring your own 100% cotton items to print on (tote bags, T-shirts, tea towels, napkins, etc. in light colors). No experience necessary, beginners to advanced students are welcome.

Gelli plate printing is a wonderful technique for creating richly textured prints, but did you know you can transfer your pencil drawings directly to the plates as well?
In this workshop we’ll cover beginner-friendly methods for turning your sketches into multilayered acrylic prints. We’ll discuss the best drawing materials and paper types for various transfer techniques, demonstrate how to build up your layers, and show how to troubleshoot each step of the process to maximize success.
No prior experience necessary. All materials provided.

Tuesdays, March 24 - April 14

In this four-week class, participants will learn how to carve and print a woodblock from beginning to end. First, participants will learn how to prep the block and begin drawing a still life directly onto the surface of the block. A variety of mark-making techniques will be demonstrated, and participants will begin carving their images. The workshop will then be focused on printing the woodblocks, covering different options for ink and paper. Participants will have the opportunity to print proofs of their blocks and rework their images before printing multiples. At the end of the class, participants will walk away with a small edition of woodblock prints.
Participants are responsible for providing materials on the Supply List. All other materials will be provided.
