Poster Design: A Teen Silkscreen Workshop

$325.00

Mondays, September 29 - November 3
no class on October 13

Together, students will be creating colorful, invigorating posters through the creative process of silkscreen printing. Posters and printmaking in general have a lengthy history as tools of social change and education. After all, a picture can be worth a thousand words, and posters have both! In this course, students will get hands-on experience with several screenprinting techniques (monotype, stenciling, and layering), harnessing them to craft impactful visuals that bring awareness to a topic close to their hearts. They’ll even learn a little poster history along the way! There will be some homework, largely focused on image preparation. Students are encouraged to come to class with some general concepts, and instructors will help guide them through the printing process to create a beautiful and meaningful work of art. Get ready to get inky!

This class is limited to 10 students in grades 8-12.

Instructors: Seline Smith and Ivy Brenneman
