Fall is the time of seed pods, and Farmer’s markets. Both the structure of pods and what they contain, and the glorious produce displayed at markets in our region are packages filled with Nature’s patterns. These can be easily translated into designs and ideas for prints!
From dissecting plant materials and looking at structures and patterns they contain, students will make easily printable plates from Tetra paks, Bristol board with modeling paste and Puffy Paint, and stencils of oil board and acetate. These plates can be mixed together and printed with each other to create a wide range of visual possibilities. New vocabularies of marks and patterns will emerge from these experiments.
No experience necessary, just a willingness to get inky and try something new.
